Why should I publish
with you? Some people are comfortable with a small group of passionate people wanting to get your book out. Some people are comfortable with larger corporations that may prefer profitability over passion. We don't sell you, we sell your book. If you are passionate about writing, we believe profits will follow. |
| What genre will you publish? It doesn't matter what genre, what matters is that it's a great story, written well. Is I. M. Wolf a vanity press or POD (Print on Demand) business? No. I. M. Wolf is neither. We won't ask you for money. Vanity presses or POD's will always ask for money up front. (Set-up fees, artwork fees, these fees and more fees.) I have a great story, but I haven't written it yet. Will you work with me? Unfortunately, we only accept completed manuscripts. Still, that shouldn't stop you from e-mailing us with an idea that some of our writers might want to co-write with you. Will people be able to tell if my book was printed 'traditionally' or 'digitally?' Current digital printing technology has advanced so that it almost equals offset printing processes. Unless you worked in the printing business, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Will you design my cover for me? Will it cost me extra? Yes, we will design your cover. No, it isn't extra. Will you edit my manuscript for me? We will copy edit. We rely on the author's ability to tell his story well. We will edit for typographical errors, misspellings, etc. How about marketing? Advertising? Will you market and advertise my book? We will market your book through non-traditional means, e.g the internet, mass e-mailings and other avenues available to independent publishers. Do not expect that we will market and advertise like the traditional publishing houses. We have realistic expectations. Your book might reach only a few hundred, specially if written for a specific audience. A book stops selling when the author does. That means work also on your part. Eek!
